The Junior Kindergarten program holds a very special place in my heart.  Not only was it the program where my daughter started her educational journey, it was the program that lured me back to work after staying home with my children during their first years of their life.

My years in the JK program were filled with lots of learning, fun, laughter and wonder.  I was astounded by all that the children could do by year’s end – which included reading!  Their knowledge of phonics, numbers, writing, the Bible and character traits impressed me beyond words.  The design of the classroom was like a field trip with areas for kids to learn through exploration, hand-on activities, reading, writing, drawing, technology and play.  I was proud to be a part of a program that prepared kids so thoroughly yet still allowed them to be kids.

I have recently returned to the JK program and my affection for it has grown even more.  The team of teachers I have the privilege to work with each day are amazing.  They are selfless, deeply rooted in their Christian faith, dedicated to the children and families we serve and outright fun to be around.  The kids we teach and their beautiful families remain supportive and engaged partners.  Honestly, I can’t imagine a better place to be.

On a more personal note, I am a Bay Area native.  I have a wonderful family which includes my best friend and husband of twenty-five years, my “taller than me” son and my mini-me daughter.  We have been blessed to live in this community for 14 years; which has been filled with enjoyable (and laughable) memories and a wonderfully supportive community of friends.

I’ve been a part of the Tabernacle family for just as long as both a parent and teacher.  Both of my children attended Tabernacle and I continue to mentor and support many of my former students.  I pray that you will find your experience here as familial, nurturing, and spiritually supportive as I have.
